Moisture Content of Non-Typical Materials

CTS provides Moisture Content of Non-Typical Materials inspections as outlined by ASTM D2216:

  • ASTM D2216: Standard Test Methods for Laboratory Determination of Water (Moisture) Content of Soil and Rock by Mass
    • These test methods include the laboratory measurement of the water/moisture content by mass of soil, rock, and similar elements where the abatement in mass from drying occurs due to loss of water, except as noted in specified circumstances.
    • The term “solid material” used in these procedures refer to naturally occuring mineral particles of soil and rock that are not readily water-soluable. Therefore, the water content of materials containing extraneous matter like cement and other similar products often need special treatment or a proficient determination of water content.
