High Friction Surface Treatment

When vehicles go around freeway turns, the vehicle speed and curve geometry often create a “friction demand” higher than what can be accomplished by standard pavement surfaces.

One common approach to address high “friction demand” locations is the installation of a High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST). This method uses pavement surface treatments that are comprised of very hard, polish and abrasion resistant aggregates. These aggregates are bonded to the pavement surface and enhance the road surface’s skid resistance and friction. Contact CTS if you need HFST of your roadway project.
